Getting Into Mobile Tactics Without Rage-Quitting
Tactics games scare people off with dense menus and brutal early losses. Ironhold Tactics is the one I hand to beginners because its first few maps are forgiving and teach you to read the terrain before anything punishes you.
The core skill is patience. Before moving a single unit, I look at where enemies can reach next turn, then at where I can stand without being flanked. Nine times out of ten, a bad run came from skipping that ten-second check.
Chokepoints are your friend. On defensive maps, funneling enemies into a narrow space lets a small force hold off a bigger one. Learning to let them come to you is half the game.
Don't be afraid to replay a map. These games are basically puzzles, and losing is just information about what the board wanted. Nothing is stopping you from trying a cleaner plan, since it all runs offline with no energy to wait on.
